Elseid Hysaj, invited to the show "Champions", spoke among other things about the numerous comments on the network about his performance in the match between Albania and Italy, where the footballer lowered his head and avoided Nicolò Barella's shot in the 16th minute, goal that put Italy ahead.
The footballer of the national team showed his emotions in this European championship, his expectations and above all, he said that he accepts the criticism, but he exaggerated a little.
"For me, the championship was really strange and very beautiful. I'm sorry we ended it without a win because we deserved it. I am satisfied, the people were satisfied. We had a very strong group. We all had faith that they could pass, that a miracle could happen. As it happened to me, it can happen to someone else. I'm really calm. In my career I have had bad and very good moments. I have slowly reached each step. I am tired of reaching where I have reached and I do not believe that an episode that can happen... It went beyond football. We have all accepted the criticism. He left football. It was exaggerated a little too much."
He then clarified that he turned his head when he saw the ball go into the net.
"I immediately turned my head when I saw that the ball was entering the net. I immediately thought that people will say that I was avoided. I was trying to get away. I was a bit like sitting down, it's instinct. It's a second, it's instinct, because I saw the ball at the last moment and lowered my head."
He also hinted that people have messed with his hair and that the comments could affect his family:
"They have gone beyond football. They took care of my hair and my appearance. I have an 8 year old son. I don't have a problem. I come for my country here. I'm sorry that people think I come to the national team to spend the day. I reacted because of the family. They are the first to support me, my father, son and wife. I watched it since I was talking on the phone with my parents and they asked me: "How are you?", concluded Hysaj.
Elseidi has reacted to the outbursts of people on the Internet before, through a post on Instagram: "After the match with Italy and the recent events, I feel like apologizing to all the Albanian fans for the technical and instinctive error that caused the second goal that we suffered", he said, continuing: "Who knows me knows well that I would give every strength I have and make every sacrifice for this shirt, as I have always done". Further, he emphasized that he feels sorry for the way the situation was handled and on the other hand, he thanked the fans who have supported him.
