There is a plausible idea that drinking water after a night of heavy drinking helps soothe your condition otherwise known as a hangover. However, the data of three studies from "Utrecht University" in the Netherlands have concluded that dehydration is not the only cause of hangover, which means that water will not relieve headaches, body aches, vomiting, etc.
Researchers tracked the symptoms of some people who drank too much alcohol and drank water before bed versus those who didn't drink water. The results showed that those who drank water felt less dehydrated, but still experienced the same degree of discomfort, pain and fatigue as those who chose not to drink water.
The researchers concluded that drinking water during or directly after a night of heavy drinking is ineffective in preventing hangovers.
Doctor Johnny Parvani said that: "A hangover is a clinical condition characterized by a combination of the effects of alcohol and dehydration on the metabolism." Dehydration is caused by the loss of water and electrolytes due to the activation of the hormonal system that regulates blood pressure and fluid balance. This situation causes thirst, one of the most common symptoms the next morning when you have overindulged in alcohol, but studies show that water can only relieve the feeling of thirst, but not all the consequences that come when you abuse alcoholic beverages.
