Some of the greatest astrologers support people's claims that they sometimes do not identify with the characteristics of their sign (Sun sign). And this is true. As people get older, some people may identify more with a different sign.

Let's take an example: Let's say that you are a Virgo in your horoscope and when you introduce yourself to people, they expect you to be serious and take an attitude where no emotion is visible. But your Sagittarius ascendant makes you appear more enthusiastic and happy.

The Ascendant is how you present yourself to the world with will and desire. The Ascendant is the lens through which you view the interactions and happenings around you. It determines the way others see you and what you expect from the world around you.

But clearly no one is going to get into sines and cosines now as long as there are  sites  specifically designed to accurately calculate your ascendant. You must set the day, month, year, time and city of birth.

PS Some people can have the ascendant the same as the Sun sign, or the sign they've had for years, hehe.
