Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi have left the country because of the 2024 election results, according to multiple sources.
DeGeneres and her wife have moved to the Cotswolds, England. The source said the couple plans to "never return" to the US and that the main reason for leaving was the victory of President-elect Donald Trump.
Fox News Digital reported that DeGeneres and de Rossi previously listed their Montecito, California home for sale and confirmed that the home sold in August.
"Ellen was in England to find a house at the beginning of October. She ended up finding a house she loved and bought it right away,” the source told PEOPLE.
The move comes after DeGeneres has faced controversy in recent years, including accusations of creating a toxic workplace during "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," which ended in May 2022. In her latest Netflix special, DeGeneres joked about the "exit from show business' to being 'bad'.
DeGeneres is not the only American looking to leave the country after Trump's victory. Many celebrities have also said they would leave the US if Trump is elected, including Sharon Stone, Cher and Barbra Streisand, according to Fox News Digital.
CNBC reported earlier this month that tens of thousands of Americans are looking to move abroad because of the outcome of the 2024 election.
