A shocking story was reported by "People": the mystery of the murder of a 26-year-old woman from the United States was revealed with the help of her dog.
Mandy Rose Reynolds' lifeless body was found burned in April 2023. In early November 2024, her 29-year-old cousin, Derek Daigneault, was sentenced to life in prison for her murder.
But how did the police find his tracks?
The investigation into the crime began immediately after the body was found on April 5. A white dog was found near the charred body, which could not be immediately identified, "barking furiously at officers and refusing to leave the body," according to a press release.
The next day, it was discovered that the dog had a chip, from which it was revealed that his name was Titan and his owner was the burnt woman. The investigation led police to Reynolds' home, which was completely empty, even the victim's car was missing.
When they managed to find her car, they also found the killer, Daigneault. After the latter saw the police, he tried to run away and hide in a nearby supermarket, but was arrested. Inside the vehicle, they also found a gun matching the one used in the crime.
On a fundraising page that was set up after her murder, the deceased's mother said that her daughter had left the area where she lived to move to another city and start university. Her cousin had requested the address from the family members of the deceased. He then went to the apartment and committed the crime.
So far, the motives of the crime have not been made public.
