Daddy Yankee is starting the new year 2025 single. The reggaeton legend revealed that he and his wife Mireddys González are divorcing after 29 years of marriage.

"With a heart full of respect and honesty, I want to share some important news about my personal life," wrote Yankee, whose real name is Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez, in a statement in Spanish on Instagram Stories on December 2.

 "After more than two decades of marriage and after many months of trying to save my marriage, which my wife and I share, today my lawyers have responded to the divorce petition received by the Mireddys." 

The 48-year-old, who married González in 1995 when they were both 17, said his faith will be a "constant guide" through their trials. 

"I respect Mireddy's decision," he continued. "I appreciate the time we have shared, full of blessings and values, love and with a beautiful family that will continue to be our priority. This is not an easy time, but I understand that it is part of my life process."

The "Gasolina" singer also expressed his gratitude for the life they built together, including their three children Jesaaelys, 28, and Yamilet, 27, and Jeremy, 26. 

"I deeply thank those who have accompanied us during this journey and ask that you respect our privacy in this process," he added. "I know this news may come as a surprise to many. Thank you for your unconditional support. This will be my only statement."
