Meeting new people is one of the best things in life. Every important person in our daily lives, be it a friend, boss, colleague, partner or acquaintance, was once just a stranger. And when we first met them, we had no idea that we would form the relationship we have now.

So, if you want to understand a person's personality and character, there is one question that, according to research, can reveal a lot about the other person.

Just ask the person across from you what they think about someone else.

According to a study from the University of Nebraska, people see our characteristics in others. Thus, a selfish person will see similar elements in another, while a kind person will see more positive characteristics.

Researchers asked participants to judge the characteristics (both positive and negative) of other people.

The more positively they judged others, the happier and more emotionally stable the participants were. On the other hand, those who judged others negatively were narcissistic and had more antisocial behavior.

Of course, scientists argue, the fact that a narcissist sees negative elements in others does not mean that he does the same with himself. In the same way, people with personality disorders may believe that others, for example, are hostile and malicious, even if they cannot detect similar behavior in themselves.

As they note, a negative person sees others this way. In fact, this tendency indicates a higher chance of depression or other psychological disorders.
