Superstitions about appearance: According to you, people with this trait are

If you think superstitions are only associated with the bad luck of a broken mirror or a black cat crossing your path, think again! In a questionnaire conducted with Anabel's followers, we asked: What is a superstition you have about people? And one answer that was often repeated was: "People with thin lips seem less trustworthy."

Where does this superstition come from?

The belief that someone with thin lips is less trustworthy may be rooted in the way we perceive faces. People often associate full lips with warmth and understanding, while thin lips can give the impression of a more stern or cold person.

In popular culture, this perception may have been reinforced by the way characters are portrayed in films and books - antagonists often have sharper features, including thin lips, while protagonists have softer faces and fuller lips.

People form opinions about someone's trustworthiness within the first milliseconds of seeing their face. Smoother, more symmetrical features are often associated with positive feelings and a greater perception of sincerity.

But beyond perceptions, it's clear that a person's trustworthiness cannot be determined by the shape of their lips. Still, this superstition remains interesting and shows how appearance affects how we see others - even if it's just a misperception.
