Oscar appearances: The huge sums paid to actresses to wear luxury brand

Celebrities often make their red carpet appearances look graceful and perfect, as they pose for photographers with their natural smiles, well-combed hair, and beautiful outfits that flatter every inch of their bodies.

But there's a lot of work behind the cameras - and secret deals with stylists - to make actors look perfect on Oscar night.

In addition to being the biggest opportunity for designers to advertise their creations, the red carpet also seems to be a great opportunity for artists to increase their income. Months before the awards ceremony, a team of hairstylists, stylists, and makeup artists work together to create the iconic looks we see.

Therefore, the responsible stylists need to know which dresses all the actresses will wear to avoid the same creations. At the same time, they also have a backup outfit in case of emergency.

It should be noted that the actresses do not pay for their dresses, as famous designers like Dior, Versace, or Armani are willing to not only offer them at no cost, but many times pay for them themselves.

"This is prevalent in all areas. Those who deal in jewelry pay, those who deal in shoes pay, companies in general pay," said stylist Jessica Paster, who has worked with names like Miranda Kerr, Emily Blunt and Sandra Bullock, a few years ago at the Vulture Festival.

"When we talk about costumes we pay actors from $100,000 to $250,000," she added.

The men's red carpet game has also picked up in recent years, as high-net-worth fashion houses like Prada, Dior, Gucci and Saint Laurent pay the male stars of the moment to dress them head to toe at premieres, film festivals, the Met and Academy Galas and, most importantly of all, the awards ceremonies that take place between January and March.

At major talent agencies like CAA and UTA, it's now the norm to have an in-house rep whose sole responsibility is to broker campaign deals and red carpet contracts with major fashion, watch, and jewelry houses. Also, the highest amount ever paid to a male actor is $250,000 for a single red carpet appearance.
