Mikey Madison is the newest Hollywood discovery. With her performance in the film "Anora", she not only managed to impress audiences and critics, but also won the Oscar in the Best Actress category at the 97th Academy Awards. Although only 25 years old, the young actress has already created an impressive career, and her success predicts a bright future in cinema.

She was born on March 25, 1999, in Los Angeles and raised in a Jewish family with psychologist parents. She has four siblings and, before turning to acting, was passionate about horseback riding.

Her career began in 2017 with the film "Lisa, Lisa, the Skies Are Grey", and she later gained popularity through a television series. She also gained even more fame with a supporting role in Quentin Tarantino's film "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood", while "Scream 5" was her first major cinematic success.

In 2024, however, the moment came when she changed her career. She was chosen for the lead role of Ani in the film "Anora", under the direction of Sean Baker.

In the film "Anora," Madison plays Ani, a sex worker who marries the son of a Russian oligarch but quickly finds herself at odds with his family. When she meets Vanya, the story becomes a whirlwind of passion, deception, and power.

Mai and Madison, in a performance that stole the show and earned her the coveted statuette, bring to life a character who finds the balance between naivety and determination, romance and rugged survival. The role required physical and emotional stamina, but also a deep understanding of the character. 

To prepare, the actress learned Russian and trained in dancing. Her father even put up a pole in their house so she could practice.

Winning an Oscar

Madison learned about her Oscar nomination for Best Actress while in New York. 

"I was on a phone call with my mom, dad, dog and twin brother. I felt absolutely grateful," she told Variety. 

When she finally heard her name called at the 2025 Oscars, she burst into tears. In her speech, she thanked her family and referred to the importance of Ani's role. 

"Being here today is incredible," she said.

Her personal life

Despite her fast-paced fame, Madison prefers a quiet life in her daily life. She lives in Los Angeles and spends time with her pets, cat, Biscuit, and dog, Jam. 

In his free time, he likes cooking.

"I like to cook for myself, but also cook for others. It relaxes me, it's my happy place," she said, speaking to Elle.

In addition, she has a passion for fashion and has a collection of vintage clothing. 

"When I was younger, I was very experimental with my style. A few years ago I was obsessed with Victorian dresses, which I would pair with boots. I don't wear them as often now, but I can't live without them," she told Vogue.
