Many people are not prepared for the surprise of turning 25. The aches, wrinkles, and weight gain are no joke, but a real wake-up call to the aging process.
Here are 5 harsh realities you have to accept after turning 25:
1. Metabolism is slower
This is partly due to hormonal changes that occur and also to the fact that we lose muscle mass as we age. Genetics and lifestyle are also to blame, so it's best not to be too hard on yourself when it comes to this issue.
Take a look at your diet and start filling your meals with more whole, less processed foods; they'll keep you fuller for longer, regardless of your metabolism. Also, the more physically active you are, the better.
2. Breakfast after drinking too much is horrible!
Studies show that the liver becomes less and less able to break down alcohol toxicity as we age. Plus, our immune system weakens, making us less “able” to heal from anything difficult in our bodies. Hot lemon water ready after 25 and beyond!
3. Less energy
As we age, the maximum intensity at which we can work will decline and we won't recover as quickly from workouts as we once did. Most of us will need to adjust the way we celebrate or train over time.
At 25, the name of the game is: “Listen to your body.” That means allowing yourself to rest, modifying an exercise regimen, or seeking medical help for any issues as needed.
4. Wrinkles and dry skin
It's normal to start seeing signs of aging even at the young age of 25, and this is largely a function of sun damage over the years. About 90 percent of skin aging comes from the sun. The rest is from genetics and muscle movement. Forehead wrinkles, however, are often caused by muscle movement. If you're very expressive, you may start to see them appear sooner.
5. Hair thinning and loss
According to research, as many as a third of women experience some type of hair loss, whether minor or severe, at some point. Several things can contribute to the shedding of extra strands from the head, such as medications, medical conditions, and stress. 25 is a landmark year when career, money, relationships, and overall personal well-being are expected to "settle down," so stress is bound to follow when things don't exactly go as planned.
