Spring is slowly approaching, so this is the right time to change the way we do our makeup. One of the most popular trends expected to dominate this season is "watercolor makeup," according to makeup artists.
Nikki Wolff, a renowned makeup artist who works with celebrities like Sabrina Carpenter, Yara Shahidi, Simone Ashley, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Dua Lipa and Gracie Abrams, says she has noticed a rise in the popularity of "watercolor makeup."
What is watercolor makeup?
The name refers to the beautiful watercolor paintings, which often depict dreamy landscapes or romantic portraits, using light layers of paint on the canvas. The corresponding makeup trend follows a similar aesthetic. Nikki describes watercolor makeup as “light, opaque colors that seem to melt into the skin.”
"Instead of heavy tones, the dominant element is shades of transparent colors around the eyes, lips, and cheeks," she explains.
Why choose watercolor makeup?
With spring upon us, pastel shades and cheerful colors are making a comeback in our makeup collections. However, if you're not a fan of bright colors and prefer a more minimal style in makeup, watercolor makeup offers a more elegant approach, incorporating gorgeous shades of pink and blue.
