6 admirable things strong people do to control their anger

When something terrible happens, you feel heat rushing through your body and your vision blurring. You just want to let go of that curse that's running through your head, right? So how do those admirable people who keep their cool overcome their anger?

Here are six of them:

1. They take control of their bodies

Deep breathing helps you learn how to calm down by turning your attention to your inner world, as opposed to whatever is bothering you in the outer world. Any kind of vigorous, intense physical activity that draws your mind back to your body gives you the tools you need to learn how to deal with anger.

2. They ask themselves/others for perspective

Perspective is always a great thing to seek when you're all overwhelmed with emotions. Talk about your anger - vent it out with a friend. You'll feel less isolated with your feelings. Plus, remember: you're not alone.

3. Learn to understand their anger

In the moment of rage, it's so hard to think rationally. This is not your imagination! This is a human thing, but this is no excuse for behaving badly! Think like a detective and track down clues about the types of situations, people, and events that trigger anger.

4. Leave some time for "self-control"

Take time to get your mind and body under control. These are the steps to starting meditation! When you use this relaxing time of self-control as a regular part of your day, it should last approximately three minutes.

5. They make sure not to lose patience

Losing your temper, no matter the reason, always makes you look like the bad guy, no matter who or what is at fault. Take a few minutes to put the matter in perspective and ask yourself if the humiliation that comes from a tantrum is worth it.

6. Make a plan to leave the reason for the anger behind.

Anger is a messenger that indicates that something is wreaking havoc on your subconscious. Ask yourself exactly what is bothering you right now before a dozen small irritations explode into something much worse and usually with greater consequences.
