Even though social media is playing an increasingly important role in various industries, Scarlett Johansson remains steadfast in her decision not to have a virtual presence.

In an interview with "InStyle", the 40-year-old actress revealed that she is often pressured by film studios and her team to create social media profiles as a way to promote the films she stars in.

"Even today, I received an email from Universal (Pictures), which said:

"Would you consider opening an Instagram account to promote the film?"

"I have a lot of pressure to be part of social media," she said.

She further added that she had thought about finding an alternative way to be present virtually, without violating her principles, but had not succeeded.

The actress explained that it would be real, so if she liked social media, she would be part of it. 

"But I'm not that kind of person.

However, I believe the film will do well (even without promotion on an Instagram account)," she emphasized.

Scarlett Johansson also revealed that she avoids taking photos with fans when she is in public places, as she seeks to maintain an element of privacy. 

"It bothers a lot of people. It doesn't mean I don't appreciate my fans or I'm not happy that they know me. But I always tell them, 'I'm not on working hours,'" she said.
