Melinda French Gates has called off her divorce from billionaire and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates. The 60-year-old philanthropist has responded to statements from her ex-husband, who in an interview called the split "the mistake I regret more than anything else in my life."
Melinda seems to have no regrets about the divorce, unlike Bill, and stressed that she now feels good.
"Divorces are painful and it's something I wouldn't wish on any family. But still, I knew that after I got divorced, I would feel better. And I think that was the most important thing," she said.
Bill Gates and Melina French Gates announced their decision to divorce after 27 years of marriage in May 2021. Together they have three children, Jennifer Gates Nassar, Rory Gates, and Phoebe Gates.
In May 2022, Bill Gates described the breakup in an interview with "Today" as sad, while blaming himself.
"I am responsible for causing a lot of pain to my family. It was a difficult year," he said.
When asked if he had cheated, he implied that he had.
"Of course I made mistakes and I take responsibility," he said without going into further details. "I caused pain and I feel terribly sorry for that," he added.
During an interview he gave on January 25, 2025, for the Times, Bill Gates referred to divorce as his biggest mistake.
"Melinda and I met when I was quite successful, but not as successful as I am today - that came during the time we were together. So she was there for me through every challenge," he said at the time.
