Iconic actor Wings Hauser dies at 78

American actor Wings Houser, an iconic figure in film and television, has died in Los Angeles of natural causes. The news of the actor's death at the age of 78 was announced by his wife, Callie Lily Hauser.

She announced the news on March 19 via Instagram, but the actor reportedly passed away on March 15. In a post, she spoke about his life, success, and the man he was.

"Film icon Wings Hauser 'flew' (passed away) in the arms of his film and music partner Cali Lili Hauser at their studio this weekend," the post reads.

Further, his family asks that fans support the projects the actor has worked on, instead of flowers.

"Wings is asking film and music fans in lieu of flowers or cards to show continued support for current and future projects," the post reads.

In addition to his wife, Wings Hauser is survived by his children, daughter Bright and son, Cole. Cole followed in his father's footsteps and became an actor.

Wings Houser began his career with the film "First to Fight" in 1967, and then played roles in the series Magnum, PI, The Fall Guy, Murder, She Wrote, Perry Mason, Roseanne, Beverly Hills, 90210, Kingpin, Bones and Criminal Minds.

His best known role was that of Greg Foster on the television series "The Young and the Restless" in 1977.
