Egli and Gjesti think Laertes lied about his confession about the abuse oO

Laert Vasili, during Saturday's prime time (April 5, 2025), recounted an extremely shocking event in his life, revealing that he was abused as a child.

"At the age of 9, something happens that I will never forget for the rest of my life. A neighbor abusing a nine-year-old child. And this has been inside me for 42 years. I didn't tell him because I was threatened that I would be severely abused if I told him. The problem was that he held the key to the house. He was a trusted person. I had simply locked him in that dark drawer that I didn't want to open. I saw that man every day," said the affected resident.

His story sparked many reactions and people expressed support for such a shocking event, congratulating the actor for his courage, however, Egli and Gjesti, during their conversation, expressed skepticism towards Laertes' life story.

During a conversation, Egli said:

"This story of Laertes...in a sequence where he had told about an abuse...seemed like an invention to me...it was not given any weight because it was understood that he had lied as much as he could."

"He lied," Gjesti supported her opinion.

Further, Egli stated:

"(I'll tell you there) on the line that when I was 5 years old, so-and-so raped me and I'm traumatized by it. I didn't even tell my parents, they're finding out today. A knife to the heart of all Albanians," implying that it was all done for the public's empathy, thus minimizing such a significant event in someone's life.

We do not know why and how Egli and Gjesti found all the effort and strength to deny such a story, or even to doubt its veracity when they simply have no way of confirming it, but the lack of empathy and the desire to plunge the victim, in this case Laertin, into a vortex of doubt, gives voice to the fear of victims of abuse and rape that if they speak out, they will not find support and will not be believed. Even if the story is fabricated, neither Egli nor anyone else can confirm such a thing. As long as Laertin found the courage to express such a thing, we are left to believe his word and break the stigma that boys are also abused, raped and that they need to be supported and believed just like girls.
