More shocking details have been revealed from the event that shocked Italy and Albania, where 22-year-old Ilaria Sula was found in a suitcase after being murdered by her Filipino boyfriend, Mark Samson.
Italian authorities have said that Ilaria was hit in the head and other parts of her body with force, with the aim of making her lose consciousness. They claim that Mark Samson followed the girl to her home and forced himself into the environment where she lived. Forensic doctors said that after a physical fight, she may have been shot, knocked to the ground and then stabbed.
The perpetrator, in order not to arouse suspicion about the disappearance of the 22-year-old, communicated with her friends and family through the victim's social networks. According to the testimonies of the deceased's friends, he had written on Ilaria's behalf that she was dating another guy and that she would sleep at his house.
He had continued to communicate with her close friend, sending her photos and claiming that Ilaria had had sex with "the guy she was dating." When people began to suspect, he had disappeared from the phone to hide his tracks.
He was also communicating with Ilaria's mother, who immediately realized that something was wrong. Since she was no longer communicating with her daughter on camera, Gëzime Sula and her husband reported the case and thus, the police were able to uncover the macabre murder.
Ilaria's body was found in a wooded area, in a suitcase, testifying to a horrific crime.
After admitting to the crime, the perpetrator sent a letter to the deceased's parents, stating:
“I am Mark Samson and I am writing from the cell where I will stay for several years. Every day I think about the cruel crime I committed and I do not know what to say, but above all I do not know what happened to me. It is banal to apologize for the pain I caused, but I want to apologize to Ilaria, I did not respect her when she wanted to leave me. I lost control and went crazy with pain. I am aware that nothing I can say or do today will ease the pain of the family. I am not trying to reduce my responsibilities or escape the consequences of my actions. I am ready to pay for my sins without any excuses.»
The letter does not erase the macabre crime according to Ilaria Sula's family, who responded to the 23-year-old through her lawyer, Giuseppe Sforza.
"The text of this letter seems more like a reflection of himself, without any real attention to the gravity of the act committed. Everyone has the right to write, but also Ilaria's parents, her entire family, her brother and others, have the right not to accept these apologies."
