44-year-old actor William Levy has reacted for the first time since his arrest, giving a statement to the media as he was leaving the Broward County Jail.
The actor admitted that he had been drinking too much, but denied starting any argument with anyone else.
"All of a sudden, someone started arguing with another guy and I stepped in, defusing the situation. Now I'm the one who ended up in handcuffs," he said.
He also denied being aggressive towards the employees of the restaurant where he was.
"I tried to stay calm the whole time. In the end, I was the one who had to leave," he said.

On the other hand, he also described the experience in the cell.
"It was normal. I don't know if I made any good friends, but I met some new people."
William posted a $500 bond to be released. He was arrested on charges of intoxication and causing a public nuisance.
At the moment, neither the ex-partner nor the children of the Spanish soap opera star have commented on the situation on social media.
