Causes of death

According to a report from TMZ, Bennington police are investigating all possibilities, including the possibility of foul play. Forensic and toxicology tests have been completed and are awaiting results.

Her body was found on the bank of a river, near a high school. According to media reports, the white T-shirts could do nothing to help her, as she was without signs of life.

The actress's family confirmed her death in a statement, which read:

"Sophie, a life that ended too soon. Let us all learn from her brief presence in this world and become better people. Yes, we must protect our children and do the right thing with them," it said, among other things.

The family also emphasized that Sophie used substances to self-medicate as a result of unresolved trauma and deep emotional pain.
