Earlier today, it was announced that the Korça Prosecutor's Office has issued an arrest warrant  for 25-year-old Kejsi Spahillari, on charges of murdering her boyfriend, Antonio Karafili, 7 years ago.

When the serious incident occurred, Antonio Karafili's death was recorded as a suicide, due to the circumstances in which the authorities found the deceased: hanging from a tree with a sheet, in the village of Voskopoja. The revealed truth shows that in fact this was a murder staged by Kejsi Spahillari, then 18 years old, and Rexhep Vathi, who is thought to have been her parallel lover. The latter ended his life last year.

In an interview with Euronews Albania, Kejsi Spahillari's mother appears burdened as she denies the accusations against her daughter:

"Nothing is true. Everything is a fabrication, everything is fake and fabricated. It has been a completely different story from the beginning."

She also categorically denied that she could know Rexhep Vathi, the person with whom Kejsi Spahillari is thought to have established a parallel relationship. Regarding his and Kejsi's ??biological data found on the sheet with which Antonio Karafili was hanged, which has been assessed as evidence of the murder, she stated:

"It's normal that [biological data] will be found because Casey was the one who, when she found [Antonio Karafil] with [his] mother, held him and cut the sheet. I also touched the sheet with my hand when they brought the boy home. We knew it as a family, as a story, there was no reason why this would happen, or for Casey to do this."

The true story according to Casey's mother, who said she was told it by her daughter herself, was as follows:

"They were in Korça, they had a fight. They had gone to Voskopoja, they wanted to go back, he didn't want to after the fight. Kejsi had taken [Antonio Karafili's] mother and brother and when they went [back to Voskopoja] they had found him [hanged]. That night Kejsi called me on the phone screaming, they didn't say they had found him lying down, as they claim [in the current indictment]. The mother herself said that 'we lifted him up, that we cut the sheet', not that we found him standing, on the ground."

Casey's mother closed her statement with a request for justice, stating that what they are doing to her daughter "is truly a sin, to make a murderer of a person who is not."

Kejsi Spahillari has been living in Canada for several years, where she is said to have started her family.
