The phantom of the penis-ghost refers to the moments when you look like a penis is penetrating your vagina, though you may have hours and days not having sex. This is not the official medical term because it is generally known as "vaginal pressure".
Such sensation is more prevalent in pregnant women. During pregnancy, the ovaries release a hormone called relaxin, which prepares the uterus for the new phase. For some women, the hormone causes pressure on the vagina and may also be accompanied by pain. It also relates to the lack of orgasms during pregnancy.
But "penis-ghost" also occurs in women and girls who are not expecting a baby. According to Stephanie Buehler, psychologist and sex therapist, a reason is related to the pelvic muscles. "If the pelvic muscles are tight, then orgasm makes them even tighter and tighter."
During sex, too much blood circulates in the pelvic floor and if orgasm is not experienced, says Buehler, the blood remains in the muscles surrounding it, causing the penetrating penis.
As Buehler advises, if you have such sensations and discomfort, you should be concerned about reproductive health and consult with specialists.
