Twisted Sister heavy metal vocalist Dee Snider criticized The National Football League of America (NFL) for such a selection.
?What the hell is going on? Will Shakira and Jennifer Lopez perform in the Super Bowl? I repeat, the heavy metal music that shakes the stadiums in every match is completely ignored. It seems we are not tempted enough by the circumstances, ?he wrote.
The post was certainly criticized by numerous followers. Shortly afterwards, Snider explained, "What I mean is not about Shakira or Jennifer Lopez, but it's a disappointment that rock music is ignored and not respected in the Super Bowl."
Further, the singer emphasized that songs that stir the atmosphere during pre and during matches are all rock music, such as "Enter Sandman" (Metallica), Thunder (Imagine Dragons), Crazy Train (Ozzy Osbourne), We're Not Gonna Take It (The Sister), We Are the Champions (Queen), Final Countdown (Europe), Ian Rock (Twisted Sister), Will Rock You (Queen), Welcome to the Jungle (Gun N 'Roses) and more.
Lastly, the performers in the Super Bowl were Maroon 5, Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga and Coldplay. The latter are the only ones approaching rock music a bit, however, accompanied on stage by Beyonce and Bruno Mars.
