The late Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis told her close friend, Carly Simon, that she was not only aware of John F. Kennedy's treachery, but not worried at all. So writes Simon in her new memoir book, "Touched by the Sun: My Friendship with Jackie."
In an interview with NBC News, the singer said Jackie told him personal things about her two late husbands, President Kennedy and freight tycoon Aristotle Onassis, who betrayed the former first lady.
"He learned he had no deep meaning," Simon told NBC News, referring to Aristotle's betrayal of soprano Maria Cllas.
In the book, Simon explains how Jackie coped with President Kennedy's itinerant eyes.
"Jack's extramarital affair also didn't impress," the book says. "Gracefully and delivered, she told me she was aware. He just didn't bother his betrayals so much because he knew Kennedy loved him so much. Many times more than what the flames of the moment meant. "
Although they didn't bother the first lady, they did bother her friend.
"I think some things had a big impact on her," Simon said, adding, "For example, he wasn't near her when she was born, but she was spending time with her lover. There are plenty of acts of this nature that must have hurt him a lot. ?
Simon refers to an incident in 1956, when Jackie gave birth to a lifeless baby while her husband was on a yacht in the Mediterranean. Although Kennedy was eager to return home to his wife, she did not mind much since the baby was born lifeless and had nothing to do.
In an exclusive interview with People, Simon spoke openly about her unusual friendship with Jackie and about her last moments at her home in 1994.
"I held my hand, told him I loved him and said goodbye," Simon, 74, told People. "From the other room there were monks singing people laughing because the Kennedy had organized a small party. It was incredible. "
