For the first time since 2000, when Garth Brooks was recognized for his achievements in music during the 90s, he will be awarded the "Best Artist of the Decade" award. The American Music Awards announced that the winner of the prestigious award is Taylor Swift.

Taylor Swift has won 23 AMA awards, more than anyone else during this decade. Likewise, it is the female singer who has grabbed the most trophies at the American Music Awards.

"Taylor's influence on music is undeniable and her performances have been truly spectacular," said Mark Bracco, executive director of Dick Clark Production, which founded the 1973 American Music Awards.

Taylor Swift will perform during the awards ceremony on November 24.
