Jack Dorsey, CEO of Twitter, vowed to donate $ 1 billion to fund coronavirus studies to "disarm this pandemic."
On Tuesday, Dorsey, who co-founded Twitter in 2006 and founded the Square payment company, announced it would donate $ 1 billion from Square shares to a charity called Start Small "to fund the Covid-19 facilitation."
Dorsey said the donation is about 28% of his fortune. The Twitter CEO's fortune is estimated at about $ 3.9 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
So far, it is the largest donation in the fight against coronavirus pandemic.
Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon and the richest man in the world, said he would donate $ 100 million to Feeding America, which feeds people in need. Bezos donate 0.1% of its $ 123 billion fortune
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has donated $ 100 million to detect the Covid-19 vaccine and treat those affected. Michael Dell, the founder of Dell Computers, has promised to donate $ 100 million.
