What Jehovah's Witnesses Really Say About Death and Resurrection

The day before, following the shocking event in Tirana, where mother and daughter are said to have sacrificed themselves, the media reported that they were believers in Jehovah and believed in the resurrection. Mentioning religious belief and its connection, directly or indirectly with self-sacrifice, is troubling because in their dogma, Jehovah's Witnesses do not preach death.

General Information: Jehovah's Witnesses belong to the Christian religion but prefer to use their own translation of the Bible. They are known for door-to-door preaching, refusing military service and blood transfusions. They also reject the idea of the Holy Trinity and do not celebrate Christmas, Easter, birthdays and similar holidays. Jehovah's Witnesses believe that God is the Creator and Supreme Being. They see God as the Father, something invisible and separated from the Son, Jesus Christ. Jehovah's Witnesses believe that God should be distinguished by a unique name Jehovah Jehovah.

How Death Is Treated: Jehovah's Witnesses believe that when a person dies, his being ceases to exist. This is because the Bible makes it clear that human beings do not have an immortal soul that survives even when the body dies. The dead cannot think, act or feel. "All are made of dust, and all are turned into dust" (Ecclesiastes 3: 19,20).

They are of the opinion that Hell does not exist as a place to torture sinners after death. Such an belief is argued by the idea that it is against God's nature to torture people.

How the resurrection is treated: According to Jehovah's Witnesses, death is not the end of everything. People can be remembered by God and revived. Jw.org says:

1. God is the Creator of life. The Bible calls Jehovah God ?the source of life.? (Psalm 36: 9; Acts 17:24, 25) He who gave life to every living creature, no doubt, has the ability to bring life back to someone who has died.
2. God has resurrected people in the past. The Bible reports eight instances of people. Young and old. Returning to life on earth. Some had died shortly afterwards, but one had spent four days in the grave. .John 11: 39-44.
3. God can hardly wait to be resurrected.

On the same page, jw.org (Albanian-language website for Jehovah's Witnesses) writes that it is important for people to believe in the resurrection, but at no time is the death / self-sacrifice of someone preached with the idea that he will be resurrected. late ?on the contrary life is valued. "Jehovah hates death; for Him death is the enemy."
