Recently, in the region of Tuscany in Italy were registered 16 new cases of Covid-19 distributed in Florence, Arezzo and Massa Carrara, of which 13 of the infected are cases imported from Albania. Spreads of foreign origin are troubling the region, which in recent days has taken measures to track passengers arriving in Tuscany, but is now also asking the government for additional data and measures.
Governor Enrico Rossi is concerned and says that "the government must intervene" otherwise, if passenger tracking is not actively done, "there will be only one solution: direct blocking of flights."
The governor asked other countries to forward the necessary information to their citizens regarding the obligation to stay 14 days in quarantine after violating in Italy.
Checkpoints have been set up in Pisa or Florence to monitor passengers, but there is a problem that is worrying local authorities. Passengers going to Italy from Albania and from any other country not part of the Schengen area, can land at other Italian airports and move freely to Tuscany.
In the last week, there have been 52 new cases in Tuscany and of these 31 are of foreign origin, of which 27 are only from Albania. Rossi says that to prevent any outbreak, it is also essential to know the data of those who landed in Italy before the outbreak of new cases.
