Artist Kanye West gave a dramatic speech yesterday (July 19) about his presidential campaign in South Carolina. The rapper talked about the controversial topic of abortion, through a personal story from his relationship with Kim Kardashian. With tears in his eyes, he says, "I almost killed my daughter."
At one point, Kanye quoted the Bible as saying, "Thou shall not kill." "I remember my girlfriend [Kim] calling me crying and I just thought, because at that time I was a rapper, with different girlfriends and everything. . . "She said, 'I'm pregnant,' while I just said 'Yes,' with some sighing."
He continued: "Kim has been crying for months, we talked about not giving birth to the baby. "She had the pills in her hand." Kanye then adds that a religious epiphany (a kind of sudden enlightenment and understanding of things) happened to him in his Paris apartment, where his wife had previously been the victim of an armed robbery. "I'm in the apartment where my wife was robbed, I have my laptop and all my creative ideas, I've put on my shoes, I'm almost ready for the new song and at that moment the screen turns black and white. God said, "If you spoil my vision, I will spoil yours." At that moment, I take my wife and she says to me, "We will give birth to this child," and I say the same thing.
The Yeezy designer explains that even if his marriage to Kim ended, then he would be happy again, as she gave birth to their first child, North. "She brought North to the world when I did not want to. "She stood up and protected the child." Kanye found that even though he is against abortion, he would not make it illegal and that he would create more resources available to women and mothers expecting children if elected President of the United States.
"Abortion must be legal, because find what? The law is not from God, so what is the law? ”
Kanye also made some controversial comments about Harriet Tubman, the heroine who rescued slaves in what became known as the "Underground Railroad" in the 1800s. "Harriet Tubman did not actually release the slaves, she simply forced them to go work for "Other people," West commented.
The rapper announced for the first time his intentions to run in the 2020 presidential election against Donald Trump and Joe Biden.
