Meghan Markle tells why she gave up on social media

Meghan Markle appeared as a speaker at Fortune Next Generation Summit Grav, where she spoke (via Elle) with the magazine's associate editor, Emma Hinchliffe, about using social media.

Speaking from her home in Montecito, Meghan admitted that she does not have a personal account on social media and it all has to do with her mental health. She compared the addiction some have to online platforms as similar to drug addiction.

Meghan Markle tells why she gave up on social media

"For my own good, I have not had social media for a long time," she said. "I had a personal account years ago, which I closed and then we had another one that was not managed by us, but by the institution of our office in the United Kingdom. "I made a personal choice not to have any social media accounts, so I do not know what is out there and in many ways this is beneficial to me."

Then, he added:

"I'm very concerned about the people who are connected to them. And it is so much a part of our everyday culture for so many people that it is an addiction like so many other addictions. People who are addicted to drugs are called users and people who are on social networks are called users. And there is something algorithmically that is there that is creating this obsession, which I think is very fixating for a lot of people. "
