Suppose you have just completed two doses of Covid-19 vaccine and now you are ready to go out and celebrate with good music and alcohol. However, you may have to wait a bit for the latter.
"There is no evidence that drinking alcohol before or after the vaccine can affect its effectiveness or create side effects," says Dr. Robert Quigley for Bustle.
However, even without this data, he says it is recommended that alcohol, immediately after vaccination, be avoided. The most typical side effects of Covid vaccines include fatigue, muscle aches and headaches, and it is possible for a glass of wine directly after vaccination to worsen these symptoms, worse than a hangover.
Some doctors suggest waiting 48 to 72 hours after vaccination. When it comes to drinking over the space between two doses (for vaccines that have two doses), doctors are less determined. Scientist reports that while some scientists have recommended abstinence from alcohol entirely between the two doses, other doctors disagree with the decision and say that light alcohol consumption, 3+ days after the first dose is perfectly fine.
It is best to consult your doctor to better understand what may be best for you.
