The UN responds to Elon Musk: Here is the plan for how the $ 6 billion famine

The director of the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) has put forward a plan to spend $ 6.6 billion to fight world hunger - a direct response to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who claimed he would sold Tesla shares to fund a plan if the PBU could describe "exactly how" it would work.

David Beasley posted a 1,000-word "executive summary" on Monday. The summary  describes how the UN would distribute $ 6.6 billion worth of meals and vouchers to feed more than 40 million people in 43 countries that are "on the brink of starvation" - thus avoiding what the PBU is considering a " catastrophe "imminent.

In the document posted by Beasley, the PBU proposes to spend $ 3.5 billion to buy and distribute food directly, $ 2 billion "for cash and food coupons (including transaction fees) to places where markets can operate" and spending $ 700 million other dollars to manage new food programs tailored to the needs of countries.

Another $ 400 million will be used for "operations management, administration and accountability" and supply chain coordination.

"This famine is urgent, unprecedented and inevitable," Beasley wrote in a special Twitter post to Musk, the world's richest man with a net worth of about $ 288 billion. "You asked for a clear open letter plan. Here it is! We are ready to talk to you - and anyone else - who is serious about saving lives."

In early November, Elon Musk said he was willing to donate some of his fortune to end the world hunger crisis, enough for the United Nations (UN) to prove how 6 billion dollars will end the crisis. Elon Musk challenged Beasley's claim, saying that only a small percentage of Musk's fortune could help solve the world's hunger problem.
