Ben Affleck’s approach to parenting is let’s say it is a controversial and easily criticized approach.
The actor, who is promoting the movie "The Tender Bar", argued that it is "important" to have two parents to successfully raise a child.
"It's important to have two parents to raise and raise a child," Affleck told the December / January issue of the WSJ magazine. "How to behave. What should be your values. The ways my father did this to me are really meaningful - like the ones he did not."
Affleck acknowledged that the prospect of losing everything - family and career - was the main impetus for ending his alcohol addiction, which his father also suffered from.
Affleck comments are likely to elicit feedback from single parents, widows and widowers or other relationships where people have set up or in certain circumstances had to raise children themselves.
Ben is the father of three children, daughters Violet and Seraphina and son Samuel from his marriage to Jennifer Garner. They separated in 2015, while divorce proceedings were completed three years later.
