TikToku is always a good place to teach us new tricks. This time, many people have posted videos claiming that the hair conditioner should be applied first, before shampooing. Should I?
Traditionally, shampoos are used before hair conditioner to ensure the hair is cleansed of dirt and oil. The balm, on the other hand, contains natural oils, proteins and plant extracts that help the hair to be soft, shiny and smooth. The balm-then-shampoo method is known as the reverse hair washing method.
At present, there is no scientific data to support the safety and effectiveness of this method of washing. If you notice that your hair is volumeless, "flat" and greasy after conditioning, you can use it before shampooing.
In this case:
1. Massage the conditioner on parted hair and leave for a few minutes.
2. Then, without rinsing the balm, apply shampoo and wash.
3. Rinse your hair.
People who use this method claim that the hair is not greasy or without volume. If you find that this way of washing your hair looks healthier, you can try it because there is no evidence that it is harmful.
Keep in mind that the more dirty your hair is, the more often you should shampoo it first.
