"Unfortunately, for years, in certain cases we have seen the non-equal treatment of women's and men's lives, blaming the victim and not the perpetrator, and even cases with even lower sentences than those foreseen by law. And this has only encouraged the perpetrators and abusers. Therefore, I ask the justice bodies to completely eliminate sexism and inequality in court decisions, as well as the security institutions to increase the level of protection for girls and women who are victims of violence. It is also time to proceed with legislative changes that further toughen the punishments against the perpetrators." - said the president of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani.

Journalist Vullnet Krasniqi told Euronews Albania that the main author of the incident was repeatedly suspected of rape and was released by the authorities.
