At least a dozen coffins have been left hanging in the air after the collapse of a four-story building containing coffins in Naples' oldest cemetery.
It is the second such incident in the country this year and critics blame the poor management of the cemetery in the southern Italian city.
A separate investigation is ongoing after about 300 burial niches were destroyed by the collapse of a building in another area of ??the cemetery in January.
The families of the dead held a protest on Tuesday.
Politicians in Campania, the region around Naples, say the city's cemeteries have not been restored for years. "This is a critical and unacceptable situation. For many years, cemeteries in Naples have been poorly managed, falling prey to fraudsters and profiteers," said a regional councilor for the Europa Verde party.
In February last year, 200 coffins fell in Camogli after part of a cemetery collapsed in a landslide that also destroyed two churches.
