How common is back hair and what you need to know about it

First, let's get something straight: Butt hair is perfectly normal, just like pubic hair or hair on any other part of the body.

Although everyone has back hair, body hair still manages to complicate us somewhat. We adore thick hair, obsess over long lashes and full brows, but when it comes to *other* types of body hair, we often blush and pretend they don't exist.

Why does butt hair exist?

Different hairy areas on the body have specific functions. For example, eyelashes are meant to keep dust and other particles out of our eyes. However, when it comes to butt hair, no one knows for sure what their purpose is.

Bodies evolve over millions of years. We haven't lost our butt hair yet probably because there's simply no compelling reason to do so. There is no significant evolutionary pressure against them.

Does everyone have back hair?

Yes, everyone has hair on their butt. The only thing that can change is the amount of butt hair. Some people may have more or less than others, as genetics and hormones affect the distribution of body hair.

Some ways you can treat them include laser hair removal, razors, and waxing.
