British children's site My 1st Years has partnered with Dr. Bodor Winter, associate professor of linguistics (linguistics) from the University of Birmingham, to find out which names are considered the most beautiful.
The science for this is based more on sound, but also on senses such as touch and smell.
Experts analyzed hundreds of baby names from the UK and the US to find out which were the best.
In first place for boys was the name Zayn, inspired by former One Direction member Zayn Malik at the height of the boy band's popularity more than a decade ago.
Other names included Louie, William and George - largely inspired by royal families as well.
For girls, names with a strong "E" sound like Sophia, Zoe, Rosie, Sophie and Ivy - were considered among the most beautiful.
In the US, one of the most beautiful names for boys is Matthew, which means "gift of God".
Other names were Julian, Isaiah and Leo.
Dr. Winter explains:
"There are many things that go into choosing a name, and some of them have been explored in research. For example, research by Stephanie Shih shows that parents try to avoid choosing names that don't match the family name. For example, if your last name starts with 'S', it may be advisable not to have a first name that ends with 's', such as Marcus, Charles or Nicolas - because two 's' sounds blend together."
