Lisa Marie Presley, the singer and only child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, has died at the age of 54 after being hospitalized suddenly on Thursday.
Her mother, 77, confirmed Presley's death later Thursday night.
"It is with great sadness that I have to share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us," Priscilla Presley said in a statement. “She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known. We request privacy as we try to cope with this profound loss. Thanks for the love and prayers. There will be no further comment at this time."
Presley was taken to the hospital from her home in Calabasas, Calif., after suffering cardiac arrest, TMZ first reported.
Born in Memphis, Tennessee in 1968, Presley is the only child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley. When her parents divorced, Lisa moved with her mother to Los Angeles. When Elvis died in 1977, Lisa, then 9, became a joint heir to his estate with her grandfather, Vernon Presley, and her great-grandmother, Minnie Mae Hood Presley.
In 1997, she released "Don't Cry Daddy" as a duet with her father's vocals, to mark the 20th anniversary of his death. She later followed her father's path in music, releasing three albums: "To Whom It May Concern" (2003), "Now What" (2005) and "Storm & Grace" (2012).
