Chris Martin has revealed that he only eats one meal a day and skips dinner entirely - a statement that comes straight after his ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, was criticized for her apparently sparse diet.

Sitting down with Conan O'Brien for the latter's podcast, Conan Needs a Friend, Martin revealed that his one-meal-a-day diet was inspired by songwriter Bruce Springsteen.

He says that after discovering that Bruce only ate once a day, he thought: "This is my next challenge."

Afterwards, the pair started joking about how the only meal would be a "two meter long" sandwich.

Naturally, the "Yellow" singer faced backlash after his diet went viral.

"Wow, fun moments when he and Gwyneth were together," someone commented.

Another said:

"Deserted, he left Gwyneth with consequences!"

Paltrow was recently criticized online for her "dangerous" diet and health routine.

During a conversation with Dr. Will Cole on the Art of Being Well podcast, the actress revealed that she drinks coffee in the morning and "a lot of bone broth for lunch"

"I eat dinner early in the evening. I do a nice intermittent fast," she said, noting that "I eat a lot of vegetables."

Many took issue with the interview and claimed that Paltrow's diet promotes "eating disorders".

If you eat one meal a day, is it healthy?

For most people, eating one meal a day has no serious risks, other than hunger pangs. However, there are some risks for people with cardiovascular disease or diabetes. Eating one meal a day can raise blood pressure and cholesterol.

In general, however, eating only once a day is not that healthy for many reasons, including problems with digestion, quality and quantity of food, etc.
