Bryan Randall passed away after a 3-year battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, his family told People. He was 57 years old.
"Bryan chose early on to keep his journey with ALS private, and those of us who cared for him did our best to honor his request," the statement read. ALS is characterized by the progressive destruction of nerve cells in the spinal cord and brain.
Sandra, 59, first linked up with Bryan in 2015, shortly after hiring him to photograph her son Louis' birthday party. The following year, they started living together after the actress adopted her second child, daughter Laila.
"He's the role model I want my kids to have," Bullock said in an interview with "Red Table Talk" in 2021. "I don't always agree with him and he doesn't always agree with me, but he is an example even when I don't agree with him".
In the same interview, Sandra called Bryan "the love of my life," while clarifying that the two had no interest in getting married. As she said: "I don't need a letter to be a devoted partner and a devoted mother."
"I'm someone who went through the divorce process," explained the actress, who was married to Jesse James from 2005 to 2010.
