Halle Berry: Why women in their 30s shouldn't feel pressured to have kids

Halle Berry wants to encourage women to fight societal pressures to have children before a certain age. In an article for Women's Health, the actress said that she does not want women to be their own mistresses anytime.

"If you're in your twenties, be yourself. Own the age of exploration," she said. "Enjoy the age of genuine curiosity. Enjoy the age of trying to figure out who you are."

"If you're in your mid-thirties, don't buy into the idea that you have to have children at a certain age. You decide,” she continued.

Berry then noted that women should have children just because they want to, not because of "old ideologies that this is what women should do."

"Only do it if you want to, because you give up a lot of things in your personal life to raise those kids," she said. "And maybe you're not a woman who wants to do that. It's okay, you don't have to feel guilty , no one judges you.”

Halle Berry, who became a mother for the first time at the age of 41, explained in the article that she is challenging stereotypes about women and aging and that she feels more like herself at 56.
