The best places in Europe for those who can work remotely

Visas for people known as digital nomads – someone who lives from one country to another and uses technology to work remotely – can vary in terms of taxes, duration and minimum income requirements.

VisaGuide, a travel and visa guide website, has created a ranking of the best options for digital nomads and the best places for them to work remotely.

The platform considers various factors for remote workers who travel and live abroad.

Spain took first place in the world and in Europe. The Spain visa for digital nomads offers a six-month tax-free period, after which employees must pay 15% tax and have a minimum monthly income of €2,140; the cost of living is 673 euros.

Some countries allow tax-free work for the entire duration of the visa, including Romania, Croatia and Malta. In Romania, the minimum monthly income is required to be 3,300 euros; the cost of living is 686 euros.

The third in Europe is Croatia, which requires 2,539 euros as monthly income. Malta, another country that operates a tax-free program, requires a minimum income of €2,700. The cost of living here is slightly higher, 781 euros per month.
