Ian Somerhalder says he has no regrets about leaving the glitz of Hollywood to live on a farm with his family.
The star of "Vampire Diaries" has revealed that he and his wife, Nikki Reed, also an actress, simply packed up their belongings and moved to a farm outside of Los Angeles with their children.
"I loved what I did for a long time," Somerhalder told E! News. "But I don't miss anything from that time. I like to make films, but I did it for a long time and while it lasted it was beautiful."
His wife also spoke about this topic during the premiere of their documentary, where she admitted that nature offers her peace. "It's nice when you see what's happening with the children, when you participate in growing the food you prepare for them, and when you really see where what we eat comes from," the "Twilight" actress added.
The couple recently made a documentary about the environment and both are executive producers in its making.
The two actors started dating in 2014 and got married a year later. They have a 6-year-old daughter and a son, whose birth they announced in July 2023.
Neither Reed nor Somerhalder have plans to return to acting. Despite keeping their lives away from the cameras, they occasionally publish photos from the farm with the animals they are raising and other family shots with the children.
