After the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, from which the former president was injured in the right ear, photos and memes from the famous series "The Simpsons" immediately circulated on the network, where Trump appears in a coffin and above it is written "RIP Donald Trump, 1946-2024".
"Did they predict another "The Simpsons" event?"; "Of course "The Simpsons" would know"; "Ok, the world should take note of "The Simpsons"; were some of the comments that flooded social networks. Reuters staff asked the executive producer of "The Simpsons," who confirmed that, in fact, the scene circulating online is fake.
Matt Selman, executive producer of "The Simpsons" said:
"The image of Donald Trump in a coffin has never appeared on "The Simpsons". It is edited. There is no evidence that this moment ever appeared in an episode of the show. It's sad, but it's so easy to create fake scenarios and predictions from The Simpsons in order to misinform people."
The image in question has been circulating on social networks since 2017 and apparently, someone had all the time in the world to create it and convince people that "The Simpsons" predicted the 'death' of the former president.
