Hollywood actress Eva Longoria has revealed that her family no longer lives in the United States, but between Mexico and Spain.
The reason for the shift is the victory of Republican Donald Trump.
In an interview for the French magazine Marie Claire, Longoria linked this decision to the "change of atmosphere" in the country after the Covid-19 pandemic, poverty and high taxes, but especially with the re-election of Donald Trump.
She also added that she was lucky to be able to walk away, saying: “Most Americans are not that lucky. They will be stuck in this dystopian country.”
The Desperate Housewives star, with a deep interest in immigration policy, has been publicly engaged with Democratic candidates at the national and local levels since 2012.
She spoke at the Democratic National Convention and was active in campaigning for Kamala Harris this year.
In her Marie Claire interview published Thursday, Longoria described being discouraged by Trump's victory over Harris last week.
"If he keeps his promises, the US will be a scary place," she said.
She added that Trump's victory in 2016 had destroyed her belief that "the best man wins" in politics.
