'Euphoria': Everything you need to know about season three

The news has broken: 'Euphoria' is getting a third season. After years of delays, the hit HBO drama has finally begun production on its newest season in January 2025. The plot of season 3, as well as the return of newcomers Dominic Fike and Chloe Cherry, is still unknown, but here, we've rounded up everything we know so far.

Which actors will participate?

Details about the new season are largely unknown, though we do know that most of the main cast will return, including Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, Alexa Demie, Sydney Sweeney, Maude Apatow, and Storm Reid.

When will season 3 air?

HBO confirmed that 'Euphoria' will officially return in 2026.

On February 10, HBO released a first look at Zendaya as Rue in Season 3. It shows Zendaya from behind, with her head slightly turned toward the camera.

Will the characters still be in high school?

Season 3 will take the characters towards graduation. Zendaya hinted to The Hollywood Reporter that season 3 could explore the characters' lives beyond high school, either as seniors looking back or as graduates.

There will be some guest stars.

According to Deadline, the third season of 'Euphoria' will feature a star-studded lineup for what will likely be the show's final season. Spanish superstar Rosalía will join the cast.

HBO later confirmed the news with Rosalia giving a statement about her casting along with a first look at her character.

Why was a third season delayed so long?

There are several factors that have caused a significant delay in filming. In 2023, a writers' strike halted production across the industry, and showrunner Sam Levinson was also focused on his and The Weeknd's show, 'The Idol' (which was canceled after one season).

Meanwhile, many of the show's stars — like Zendaya, Sweeney, and Elordi — are booked with back-to-back major projects, which could have made coordinating filming more difficult. Not to mention, Levinson insists on writing the entire show himself, which likely slowed the process down as well.
