If your child is obsessed with dinosaurs, we have good news.

We have good news for all the parents who are probably tired of hearing so much about T-Rex or the cartoon character Barney. Science says that children who are interested in dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures exhibit higher intelligence.

A study from the University of Indiana and the University of Wisconsin has suggested that children with a deep interest in prehistoric animals like dinosaurs may exhibit greater intelligence. Researchers have linked this to improved attention, better information processing and complex thinking.

Kenneth Lacovara, a paleontologist, told CNN that an interest in figures like dinosaurs empowers children, giving them a sense of authority. Given that the children in the study who were interested in dinosaurs had higher IQs than other children of the same age, it seems he might be right.

As children grow, they develop different interests, so do your best to encourage them. For example, if they like dinosaurs, you could make paper dinosaurs with them, watch documentaries about dinosaurs, or visit a museum.

But, even if they don't show interest, it's always a good idea to encourage children's interests in the world around them, which will help them.
